Question: when is the best time to OPK test?  Mid-morning? Mid-afternoon?

Here's my background:  Had VSG in 5/08 and lost 150 pounds, met fiance in 5/10 got engaged in 8/10 (hey, when you know you know), getting married in 5/11- really in 100 days, not like I am counting or anything , stopped using Nuvaring in January, I'm 39, fiance is 38 and already has 2 boys (4yo and 2yo) from his previous marriage, so we are TTC now.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I really live in the Far Northeast (Bustelton) now that I moved in with my fiance, but my parents still are in Warrington, so I am there fairly often- we should meet up sometime.  Thanks for the OPK info- I am on CD 11 today and tested at 10:50 AM and got a negative, which I figured I would because I was a CD 16 day O'r before going on the ring.

Any time of the day is good as long as your urine is not dilluted with a bunch of water. If you know you are going to test, try to not pee for a few hours beforehand.

Thanks for replying, Michelle .  When I tested earlier, my urine was pretty concentrated and got a negative on the OPK, which I figured since I am on CD11.

If you are a normal surger, once a day around 6 pm is probably best.  If you are a fast surger, it may be a good idea to test two or three times a day (11 am, 2:30 pm, 6 pm).  If you are a fast surger, it is best to buy cheapie OPKs off the internet, or it will get pricey.

Ann- I'm so glad that you replied.  How do I know what kind of surger I am?

BTW: we have already been to see a perinatalogist- b/c of my age and surgical history- and he told us that if I'm not PG within 6 months of our wedding, which would be November, but since we are staring earlier we might have to call (hopefullly not) in August, he give me something to help us.

A fast surger is someone who goes from little to no line to positive in just a few days instead of the longer fade in, fade out pattern.

For me it varied....I know you are supposed to test in the evening but I never got a good read then. I would test through out the day when I was close to O. The first month I wasted a bottle of strips trying to figure it out (we weren't TTC then), but then on the next month I knew when to use them. I got pregnant the first month and I know it was because of the strips. I was also a member of fertilityfriend.com. Good luck! BTW- I'm 38 now so I know you're concerns.....pm me anytime!!
